The Director of Special Duties Zone C, Com. Gyang Moses, has called for the end to violence and thuggery he made this call at a ceremony to recognise the effort of Gombe Resident Electoral Commissioner Alh. Ibrahim Umar, Waziri Muri, for his contributions in the smooth conduct of the 2019 general elections. Gyang, highlighted various reasons for the choice of Umar, he noted .
“it is clear that the REC Gombe state has distinguished himself in the smooth conduct of the just conducted poll which is adjudged as free, fair, credible and has therefore shown his love for the fatherland. “We need resident commissioners , whom are not in love with money but in love with justice.” it is our hope that INEC in Gombe will continue to show support to Nigerian students, who may be interested in doing their Industrial Training here. “As a matter of urgent concern NANS in it entirety condemn the inhumane killings in the Nigeria in the name of Boko Haram, Herdsmen attacks and we call on the federal government, relevant agencies to nip the attacks in the board permanently. “What is referred as communal clash bears it origin from desperate elite. “We urge Nigerian students to desist from being tools in the hands of desperate politicians” he added.
Com.Muazu Hinna, the assistant secretary general of NANS presented the award on behalf of the delegate.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Gombe state Alh. Ibrahim Umar, thanked the students body for the honour he said “You have the capacity to change the situation of things in the country, with the calibre of your kind Nigeria is hopeful. This award is presented to the REC, but it is not an honour to him alone it is to all the staff. “I have mixed feelings, it is a challenge you have given us. “I pray God gives us the capacity not to remain stand still but to move ahead with achieve more. “Bad leaders are not elected by those who vote but why those who refuse to vote.” It is my hope that one of you will become the president” he added.
