The NYSC Gombe State Coordinator, Mr David Markson, has said that the essence of the NYSC cultural carnival is to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.
Markson stated this on Saturday at the temporary camp ground, Amada, Gombe state.
He said cultural carnival is one of the best tools for cultural integration.
“Nigeria is blessed. You and I must embrace ourselves as brothers and sisters. This carnival is an opportunity for us to see how blessed we are as a nation” he said.
In his remarks,the Head of Man O war, Mr Tanny Alabura, Commended the Corps members for their colourful attires and turning out early for the programme.
Alabura who commended NYSC Management for replacing the endurance trek with Cultural carnival , he noted that the carnival would go a long way to ensure that one of the objectives of the scheme; national unity and integration is achieved.
Platoons were represented in various costumes which displayed various ethnic groups.
