Nwaorisara Kanu, Gombe state
The NYSC Gombe state coordinator, David Markson, has appealed to the Governor of Gombe state
to ensure corps members serving in Rural areas get special Allowance.
Markson made the appeal at the closing ceremony of Batch C stream I at the temporary camp ground, Gombe state.
“Let me make passionate appeal to you to see that corps members serving in rural areas are compensated through special allowance. The essence of the NYSC is to make positive impact in the host communities by leaving them better than they were. This gesture would not only boost their morale but would endear a large number of corps members to the interiors” Markson said.
Meanwhile the Governor of Gombe state Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, also urged the 1,433 Batch C stream I corps members in Gombe to strive for Excellence saying that it pays.
Yahaya who was represented by the commissioner of youth and Sports Gombe state Hon. Julius Ishaya, noted that out of number honoured by the federal government Gombe state had over six.
“It is no longer news that the federal government recently honoured some Ex-Corps members across the nation, where NYSC Gombe had 6 out of the number honoured with automatic employment and scholarship to doctorate level in any university of their choice. The reward came after hard work by improving the lives of members of their host community through Community Development Service” he said.
