Covid-19 is real: How I survived Coronavirus- Gombe Commissioner shares experience

Gombe state, Commissioner for Information, Alhassan Ibrahim, has narrated how he survived coronavirus, adding that he infected two of his children.
Ibrahim who also called on citizens to accept the vaccine, once it is made available stressed that covid-19 is real and a farce.
He disclosed this on Monday, in an interview with journalists at the ministry.
Ibrahim said, “Many of our people thought Coronavirus is not real but i know it is real. That is why even after the task force there is now a covid-19 management team headed by the Deputy Governor, we are going to swing into serious action most especially advocacy because I happened to be a victim, and it was very severe. I was in isolation for 11 days.
“It started with mere fever and slight cough, which lasted about 2-3 days. So I thought it was mere fever. So I was taking Analgesics but on the day we went to present budget at the state Assembly with the governor. I felt so uneasy after leaving the venue some journalists came to talk to me about the budget I told them I can’t stand it because of how I felt. After climbing the stairs in my building my breathe seized and I think I fainted. When I was resuscitated I reached out to the commissioner for health, who directed his men to come and collect sample. The result came out positive.
“However the first 4 days was excruciating. I was given a lot of medications; 22 doses of Cotson, also 40 tablets per day. The recovery subsided on the 5th day until I fully recovered between 7th and 8th days.
“When I tested positive, I even infected my 2 children, but they were asymptomatic.”
Ibrahim, while drawing a nexus between poverty and coronavirus mitigation added, “If you can’t even afford food and clothing and we are talking about observing protocols. This facemask you are wearing sells for N100 naira, if you don’t have N100 naira for food how can you buy facemask. I think poverty is playing a major role in making people feel indifferent about covid-19 but with donor agencies bringing things like PPE’s, government has to step in to protect our people. With the vaccine a lot of advocacies are still required towards making citizens to accept it.”
