Monkey pox common among homosexuals
Gombe State Health Commissioner, Dr. Habu Dahiru, says Monkeypox is common among homosexuals.
Our correspondent reports that homosexuals are sexually attracted to same sex.
Dahiru stated this on Tuesday, while answering questions on the three recently confirmed cases in Gombe.
Recall that out of 19 suspected cases, results for three persons returned positive.

According to Dahiru, the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre had allowed the 16 others to return home after their results returned negative.

Dahiru said, “All the 19 cases that we suspected we isolated them but when the result came negative we sent them to their houses. It a very fairly mild illness but during the early stage it gives very severe fever with swelling.
“It usually common among people that are homosexuals, common among those that are immuno compromised. As it is in Gombe, we are still investigating further to classify the categories of people.”
Commenting further the Commissioner said the three cases were identified among dwellers in Gombe local government, urging the people not to panic, “All the three cases are from Gombe local government. At the moment Gombe has a structure under the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre.”
He added that the state opted for Polymerase Chain Reaction due to the standard, “there are three WHO recognised laboratories one in Plateau State, Edo State, and Abuja and results can be communicated through mail to hasten the processes,” Dahiru added.
