Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism Insurgency and Terrorism in conjunction with Concerned Citizens of the North-East, on Monday expressed dismay over the recent vandalisation of electrical installations by Boko Haram in Borno State.
According to a press statement jointly signed by Lawrence Audu of BRAVEIT and
Auwal Ahmad of CCN, its described the act as cowardly
“These cowardly acts have plunged the region into darkness and are a clear attempt to facilitate the insurgents’ heinous activities.
“Boko Haram’s deliberate targeting of essential infrastructure not only disrupts the lives of innocent civilians but also poses a significant threat to the region’s stability and development. We stand united in denouncing these destructive actions and call for immediate and decisive measures to address this threat,” the statement partly read.
While calling for support for military action, the groups noted the need to give troops support in light of these recent events, adding that “we urge the citizens of the Northeast to rally behind and support the military actions aimed at countering the terrorists and safeguarding the region. It is imperative that the community demonstrates solidarity and provides vital information to aid the efforts of the security forces in combating this menace.”
On the need to support the military they called for support for General Musa, and other stakeholders in the military, “Furthermore, we commend the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of General CG Musa, the service chiefs and the Borno state government for their commitment and efforts to address the security challenges in the region. We have full confidence in their capabilities and pledge our support to their endeavours.
“As stakeholders in the peace and stability of not just the Northeast but the entire nation, BRAVE-IT and CCN remain resolute in our determination to stand against violent extremism and insurgency. We call upon all concerned citizens, organizations, and authorities to work together in solidarity to confront and overcome the threats posed by Boko Haram and other extremist groups.
“Together, we must remain vigilant and united in our pursuit to create a secure and prosperous future for the Northeast region and its people,” the statement added.
