Idris disclosed this on Wednesday during the routine briefing of activities on coronavirus in the state.

He stressed that the response team is going to embark on fumigation of specific areas in the Government House as well as the clinic where the deceased was admitted for days.

He said, “Unfortunately since we last met, we have had 3 more deaths, bringing the total death number to 7, Among the 3 who died 2 are from Gombe state whom have never travelled but 1 was brought from Maiduguri on emergency dialysis. As of today there are 23 active cases in the state. All members of the government house particularly those closely related to the deceased are being traced and tested by the Rapid Response Team.

He noted that the taskforce is working assiduously to prevent a community out break.

“There is now evidence of community spread of covid-19 spread in the state. We have have managed to keep Gombe communities safe for well over 2 months now because of the proactive steps taken by government of Gombe state and by the task force. Of recent this  evidence that those who never travelled out of Gombe state have become positive that means they were infected by people who came into the state, entered the community thereby exposing members of the community to the virus some of whom unfortunately have been infected. We are still continuing very thorough and comprehensive investigations to determine exactly the nature and extent of this community spread.”

Idris added that Gombe state is yet to commence testing despite taking delivery of Polymerase Chain Reaction machine owing to the need to remodify the proposed laboratory for testing.
