Pantami for President: Minister disassociates self from campaign posters
Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Prof. Ibrahim Pantami has disassociated himself from campaign poster seeking for the office of president of the country.
Pantami an indigene of Gombe State, was the former boss of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), prior to his appointment as minister.
Recently he was enmeshed in professorial saga after the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), elevated him as professor of Cyber security, this led to the suspension of former chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Gombe branch who was relieved his duties following his congratulatory message without ‘approval’.
Sources claimed Pantami may be interested in the Gombe number one job, following his strong links in the presidency and strong hold on Izalla, an Islamic group known for it active participation in who becomes Governor.
Following a viral poster on social media, our correspondent contacted an aide to the Minister Affan Abuya, about the veracity of the poster.
Abuya waved it off, saying it was the handiwork of the Minister’s detractors, adding that it was untrue.
He noted that the poster didn’t emanate from Pantami’s camp.
“Is fake from enemies,” Abuya said.
When asked whether his principal was interested in contesting the position of Gombe governor, he kept mute.
