Gombe inaugurates council on consolidating gains of EoDB
The institutionalisation and putting in place necessary policy frame work to consolidate its position as the best in Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria, Gombe State Government has inaugurated the Council on the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).
The 25-member council is being Chaired by the State Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau.
Inaugurating the Council on behalf of the Deputy Governor, The Secretary to the Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said the constitution of the Council is in furtherance of the government desire to deepen the quest to reduce to the barest minimum issues that are deterrent to investors and all actors in the service delivery chain for effective economic growth of the State.
He explained that the clear comprehension of the Ease of Doing Business concept entails timely interaction, timely information sharing and interface between government and various organisations engaged in business promotion across all sectors.

The SSG said being an important and necessary concept among the parameters of measuring development of nations EoDB has received global attention, adding that it is on record that Nigeria has moved from being 145th in 2019 to 131st in 2020 second in Africa after Mauritius, while Gombe State occupies the first position in the country in 2020, stressing the need to consolidate on the gains recorded.
Njodi added that considering the comprehensive and onerous task ahead of the council members there is the need to hit the ground running to catch-up with lost time.
The terms of reference of the council among others include; the establishment of a One Stop-Shop for business registration, support for robust data of existing and newly registered companies to support policy design for Ease of Doing Business.
Others are making recommendations to improve obstacles for easy development and facilitation of business and provisions for enabling Laws and regulations that are considered necessary to promote Ease of Business in the state.
The council is also expected to hold periodic town hall meetings with stakeholders keeping the pulse of government policies on business as well as advising government on business friendly environment.
Commenting on the significance of the Council, State Commissioner of Commerce Trade and Industries Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu said it will help ensure effective regulation of the business environment therefore giving investors craving to invest with the confidence and security they require.

The Commissioner who commended the foresight of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for coming up with the initiative assured that the council would help the state consolidate on its number one position in Ease of Doing Business in the country.
