Gombe to participate in six National Para Games
Gombe State contingent will participate in six events in the National Para Games scheduled for Abuja, the Nation’s capital.
Our correspondent reports that the events for the Gombe contingent to display their skills include; Para soccer, Amputee football, Deaf football, Para powerlifting, Para athletics and Deaf Sports.
Addressing the team on Saturday, Chairman of the Gombe State Sports Commission Chief Lanre Daniel, charged the team to show commitment by clinching every gold medal.
He said they were participating to win and not to make up numbers, stressing that Gombe State is known for performance.
Daniel lauded the governor for his support to the commission and for his efforts in ensuring the teams welfare, assuring that Yahaya’s zeal would be compensated with laurels.
He said, “We want to thank the Executive Governor of Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for granting the approval of the Commission to participate in the event.”
While urging the players to be good ambassadors of the state, the chairman assured residents that they were going to blaze the trail, “We are not going there for jamboree, we’re going there to win medals and I charge you to be of good behaviour as ambassadors of the state.
“Be assured of His Excellency’s support throughout the games,” Daniel added.
