Gombe police assure protesters of adequate protection
The Gombe State Police Commissioner of Police Ishola Babaita, has assured to provide relevant protection for labour union ahead of their scheduled nation wide protest.
Recall that the labour is set to protest following the debacle around the negotiations between Federal Government, its representative labour Minister of Labour Dr. Chris Ngige and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over months of failure to reach a truce.

Speaking on Monday, in an interview with journalists shortly after parading suspected cattle rustlers operating in Plateau, Bauchi and Taraba States, Babaita urged the labour leaders to organise themselves in lawful manner.
Recall that the last ENDSARS protest at Rainbow roundabout embarked by youths was hijacked by hired thugs with scores sustaining injuries, property snatched.
According to Babaita, the leaders should not allow their protest to be hijacked by hoodlums, warning that the command would not allow break down of law and order.
He said, “We will give them the necessary security covering but they should not allow hoodlums to hijack the protest. We can’t stop them but we will make sure they are guided.”
He noted that the job of the police was to protect lives and property, stressing that he expects a rancour-free protest.
While counselling the students’ leaders, on maintenance of peace and order Babaita added, “We are parents they should not do something that will make hoodlums penetrate that is why the police will be there to protect them for them to deliver their message and go their way.”
