Shettima:Group berates APC over same faith ticket
Centre for Justice on religious and ethnicity in Nigeria has decried same faith ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election.
According to the organisation’s Director-General Rev. Kallamu Dikwa, the decision of the ruling party is spurred from its desire to propagate the tenets of Boko Haram and ISWAP.
Dikwa disclosed this in a press statement made available to our correspondent on Saturday.
Recall that Kashim Shettima former Governor of Borno State was recently unveiled by the standard bearer of APC, Bola Tinubu in Abuja ahead of its preparation to replace the current administration.
He alleged that under the watch of Shettima, over 200 girls were adopted, adding that the insurgents who were recently freed may be a ploy to make the 2023 election violent.

The statement partly read, “We are deeply concerned about the utterances of some Nigerians over who becomes the running mate to the presidential candidates of political parties for the 2023 general elections.
“These days, we have been waiting for who will be the running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general elections. We also observed that all the prominent Muslim politicians, northern Muslim governors, Muslim traditional rulers, with their Islamic scholars, saying that if a Muslim from the north is not picked as running mate, they are not going to vote for him.
“At last the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu decided to pick the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate. This is what Boko Haram and ISWAP demanded for since, so the agenda of Boko Haram and ISWAP has finally been fulfilled.
“Over 200 Chibok School girls were abducted under the watch of then Governor Kashim Shettima and they have not been found till date. Picking of former Governor of Borno State Sen. Kashim Shettima as presidential running mate of All Progressive Congress, it is a clear indication of Boko Haram and ISWAP activities of abducting our children from schools will fully be resumed. Therefore Nigerians must be careful with Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima. The freed Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists members from the Kuje correctional centre, it is a well planned attack by this government to manipulate the forthcoming 2023 general elections for the All Progressive Congress. Therefore, Nigerians must take serious note of this and work against it now.”
Dikwa noted that the same way its unhappy about Muslim-Muslim ticket, it would also condemn a Christian-Christian ticket.
“We noted that it means that it was planned a long time ago by the core northern Muslims to cause confusion in the country if Muslims do not rule the country as President and Vice President.
“Nigerians have come to a time where they would unite themselves irrespective of religion or tribe by carrying every part of the country along towards ensuring a formidable nation.
“We said that a Christian/Christian or Muslim/Muslim ticket does not speak well on the sincerity of Nigerians in ensuring justice, equity and fairness to all for the progress and development of the country.
“We said that it was counter-productive for a country like Nigeria to still believe that it is only a particular religion that has those that can direct the affairs of the country.
“It is very unfortunate that some preachers are inciting and brainwashing their followers that they have the capacity in the country to produce a President and Vice President.
“Both the PDP and the APC have their presidential candidates as Muslims. Is it not enough to also see the sportsmanship of Christians to vote without thinking of the two being Muslims?
“The practicing of Othman Danfodiolism cannot continue in our own time any longer and must stop now. We must rise up quickly to do the needful to tackle this Jihad for the taking over our land in our own country by using the Fulani ethnic group foreigners in Islamisation of Nigeria. Therefore, we must act now to save this generation and the future of our children and grand-children.
Lastly we are advising the entire southern region to come together and stand for their right, this is time for the southern region to rule Nigeria as president,” the statement added.
