Fintiri bags most NYSC-friendly Gov award
The National Youth Service Corps has named Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa as “most NYSC-friendly governor” of the year.
Mr Jingi Denis, the state NYSC Coordinator, made this known at the closing ceremony of 2023 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course in Damare, Girei Local Government Area, of the state.
He said the award would be presented to the governor on May 20, at the NYSC Golden Jubilee Award Night in Abuja, as part of activities marking the 50th Anniversary of the scheme.
Denis, however, appealed to Fintiri to expedite work on the already approved construction of concrete wall perimeter fence at the camp.
The co-ordinator noted that the project was significant to the security of the camp and the corp members deployed into it.
He charged the corp members to be of good conduct and reminded them of the oath of allegiance they took to accept any posting in good faith.
In his remarks, Fintiri noted that white collar jobs were scarce, urging the corp members to strive hard and create jobs to become self-reliant.
“However, through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, the NYSC has handed you a strong weapon to fight and conquer this monster of unemployment.
“Therefore, I urge you all to continue with the post-camp training as soon as you settle at your respective places of primary assignments in order to follow the SAED training to its logical conclusion,” he said.
Fintiri, represented by Professor Maxwell Gidado, his Chief of Staff, also charged the Corps members to use their primary places of assignment to mentor younger ones.
“Be informed that the State Government provides special incentives to all corps members serving as teachers in public schools,” Fintiri said.
