The Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, has called for improved relationship and synergy between the Security and Paramilitary outfits in the country for successful operations and progress of the Country.

The Deputy Governor made the call when he received on a courtesy visit the Area Commander Bauchi/ Gombe Customs services.
The Comptroller of Customs, Bauchi/ Gombe Command, Mr Chika Constant Dim, was on familiarisation visit to his formations sister agencies and eventually visited the Deputy Governor as a mark of respect to Authorities.

Receiving him, Jatau who is a retired Deputy Comptroller General of Customs commended the officer for the initiative to see first hand the situation on ground as relates to service environment of his officers.
He also commended the Area Commander for meeting with other security and sister agencies while on tour to cement working relationships and synergy towards achieving collective goals of the people.

He said, “let me sincerely welcome the Area Commander of the Customs Services, Bauchi-Gombe Area Command to Gombe. It is wisdom to reduce the cost of Administration and in view of the fact that, the two states are intertwine with no much boarder activities that made the custom authorities merge them as one area command. Also, considering that Bauchi- Gombe used to be an outstation of Jos Plateau State, that Bauchi-Gombe is now an area command is commendable.
“I commend you for being the first Area Commander to visit me, and also for finding time to familiarize yourself with the terrain. To know where the officers stay, how they work, with the view to improving their welfare and working conditions.
” Much commendable is your meeting with other agencies towards creating synergy for efficiency of service to the nation. Whenever I hear security agencies quarrelling I become disturbed. Quarrels happen as a result of fighting for superiority, which shouldn’t be the case. Agencies should see their activities and relationship as symbiotic towards achieving common goal of freeing the country from illicit practices and behaviours. You should ensure cordial relationships amongst agencies are improved.
” As a policy in Gombe State, we always involve all security agencies whenever the need arises. For instance we went out yesterday over an issue of security breach. Except the Customs, Civil Defence and the Correctional services we involved all others. But even with that, there is a time we are going to engage all, if necessary. The Heads of Agencies in Gombe State are very friendly. Create time to meet with them. More especially, the NDLEA Boss, relate with him to assist you in checking movement of drugs and where they are stored. Drugs are very dangerous substances that aids most of the crimes committed in the Society and something must be done to suppress it’s peddling.”
The Deputy Governor informed the Customs Officer that he was aware of the problem of lack of light transformer in their Baracks along Kwami road, expressing optimism that the new regime may usher in some great changes at the Headquarters, which will make provision of light possible for smooth running of activities.
Speaking earlier, the Area Commander, Bauchi-Gombe Customs Service, Dim, said he was visiting his formations and other sister Agencies to solicit for cooperation towards meeting up with their constitutional responsibilities.
He expressed delight that he was visiting the Deputy Governor, a man that was coming from their own Constituency.
He described Jatau as someone who has made them proud while serving in the Customs for introducing great policies that have impacted positively to the service and betterment of Nigerians.
