Through the unwavering support of the International Human Rights Art Movement and its dedicated Founder and Executive Director, Thomas Block, Wole Adedoyin, the present Director of IHRAM in Africa, has created a lasting impact within Nigerian and African literary spheres.

Over the past years, Adedoyin, in collaboration with IHRAF, has championed the cause of Nigerian and African writers, providing them with invaluable opportunities to showcase their talents and perspectives.

In 2020, Adedoyin established a groundbreaking partnership with IHRAF, leading to the organisation’s official introduction to the African continent.

This partnership commenced with the END SARS National Poetry Competition, a pivotal project organized by IHRAF under Adedoyin’s visionary leadership.

Since then, Adedoyin has spearheaded several literary initiatives, transforming the lives of countless writers.

These initiatives include the African Human Rights Essay Competition, African Human Rights Short Story Competition, African Human Rights Playwriting Competition, and the ongoing African Human Rights Spoken Works Competition.

Through these transformative projects, IHRAF has successfully united a diverse community of African writers, offering them a platform to raise their voices and share their stories.

One of the significant milestones achieved through this collaboration is the publication of five anthologies, namely “From Africa With Love: Voices of a Creative Continent,” “Get Consent: Poetry and Essay Anthology on Rape and Sexual Violence Against Women,” “The Malady and the Remedy: An International Essay Anthology on Human Rights Abuse in Africa,” “END SARS Rhythms: A Collection of Poems on Police Brutality, Assaults, and Battery ,” and “Thorns, Tears, and Treachery: A Collection of Poems, Essays, and Artwork on the Sudanese Civil War.” These anthologies have featured the works of over 300 African writers, highlighting their talent, creativity, and resilience.

These initiatives have benefited more than 500 African writers from over 20 countries, including members of ANA (Association of Nigerian Authors).

Adedoyin’s dedication to supporting African and Nigerian writers, combined with IHRAF’s commitment to promoting human rights through art and literature, has created a powerful platform for voices that might otherwise go unheard.

This collaborative effort continues to inspire and empower writers, fostering a sense of community and solidarity within the African literary landscape.
