A Benin-based Televangelist and popular politician, Dr Azemhe Azena, has called on Governments at all levels to look into the condition of service for Nigerian workers in line with the prevailing economic challenges in the Country.
Speaking to Journalists in his office in Benin-city, the Edo State Capital on Thursday, the NNPP Governorship candidate in last year’s election in Edo state, used the occasion of the Workers Day Celebration today to salute the resilience of the average Nigerian worker, who despite the hard times, still contributes meaningfully to the growth of our dear Nation.
“Nigerian Workers have come a long way since the nation’s Independence, contributing in no small measure to the growth and development of the nation and her people despite their struggles with successive administrations for improved working conditions for every worker” he said.
Dr Azemhe Azena, therefore, called on Nigerians to use this year’s Workers Day as a moment for sober reflection on the state of the nation, while calling on the Government to improve workers’ welfare and also to ensure peace and security, “without which there cannot be any meaningful development”, he added.
Workers’ Day is celebrated on May 1st in Nigeria as part of the International Workers’Day, to commemorate and thank workers for their contributions towards national development across the nations of the world.
