181 indigenes of Gombe State have successfully completed their training as police constables at the Police Training College, Bauchi, under the 2022/2023 batch.
The event, held on Tuesday, was attended by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, who was represented by a high-powered delegation led by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello, (Rtd.).

The delegation also included the Permanent Secretary, Special Services and Political Affairs, Alhaji Salihu Adamu Sambo; Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Service Matters, Suleiman Musa Kwami; Permanent Secretary, Internal Security, Babayo Hassan; and Senior Special Assistants on Security and General Duties, Yusuf Musa Danbayo and Yakubu Sarma, respectively.
Addressing the 181 constables, Governor Yahaya congratulated them on the successful completion of their rigorous training, describing the event as an important milestone not only in their lives but also in the collective effort to strengthen internal security and law enforcement in Gombe State and across the nation.
The governor, who noted that the group comprises 167 males and 14 females, commended their hard work, resilience, and discipline, which saw them transition from trainees to full-fledged officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
“You now carry on your shoulders the hopes and expectations of your families, communities, and the entire people of Gombe State,” the governor stated.
He expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who was represented at the ceremony by AIG Abubakar Sadiq of Zone 12, covering Bauchi and Gombe States.
“To the newly commissioned constables, today is not just a celebration, but a call to duty. You are now bearers of a sacred responsibility — to protect lives and property, uphold the rule of law, and maintain public order. I urge you to serve with honour, discipline, and unwavering commitment to justice,” Governor Yahaya charged.
He further assured the new officers of his administration’s support for their professional growth within the police force.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State, I congratulate each of you and assure you that we are firmly in support of your continued development within the force. May Almighty Allah guide your steps, protect you in the line of duty, and grant you the strength and wisdom to carry out your responsibilities effectively,” he added.
In his remarks, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, represented by AIG Abubakar Sadiq, urged the new police constables to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and dedication to duty.
He warned them to shun all forms of corruption and unethical behaviour, stressing that the Force would not condone misconduct of any kind.
“As you join the Force, let integrity and professionalism guide your actions. The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate indiscipline or corruption in any form,” he warned.
