The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division of the Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has charged newly promoted senior officers of the Division to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their service to the nation.

He gave the charge on Monday, 13th October 2025, during the decoration ceremony of officers who benefitted from the 2025 Nigerian Army Senior Officers’ Promotion Exercise, held at the Python Officers’ Mess in Port Harcourt.
Addressing the officers, Major General Emekah congratulated them on their elevation to the rank of Colonel, describing the promotion as both a recognition of merit and a call to higher responsibility.
“You must display very high standards worthy of emulation,” the GOC said. “Your new rank comes with greater expectations. You must be known for your integrity, professionalism, and commitment to the service of our dear nation.”
He urged the officers to redouble their efforts and mentor junior colleagues to uphold the traditions and core values of the Nigerian Army.
“This promotion should inspire you to do more,” he added. “Mentor the younger officers and continue to contribute toward building a Nigerian Army we can all be proud of.”
Major General Emekah also appreciated President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for their continued support to the Nigerian Army and for approving the officers’ elevation.
“We are grateful to the Commander-in-Chief and the Chief of Army Staff for finding these officers worthy of promotion. This is a motivation for all of us to keep striving for excellence,” the GOC stated.
In his vote of thanks, one of the newly promoted officers and Commander, 6 Division Finance and Accounts, Colonel Olakunle Dada, expressed gratitude to the Army leadership for the confidence reposed in them.
