The APC Campaign Council list is out. And once again, Nigeria is staring at a Party of Particular Concern.
Particular concern because the list reads like a reunion of recycled names. The same faces that promised change in 2015. The same faces that managed decline from 2019. The same faces now being repackaged as “strategists” for 2027.
This is not strategy. This is arithmetic.
When a party cannot birth new ideas, it recycles old men. When it cannot produce new energy, it summons old titles. When it cannot answer “what have you done?”, it answers “who do you know?”
A campaign council should be a war room for solutions. Jobs. Power. Food. Security. Instead we got a roll call of godfathers, contractors, and career spokespersons. People whose greatest skill is defending failure on TV.
Particular concern also because the optics scream entitlement. No fresh technocrats. No youth with track record. No women beyond token seats. Just loyalty rewarded and performance ignored.
Democracy cannot grow where parties confuse familiarity with competence. You cannot fight inflation with nostalgia. You cannot fix deplorable roads with press releases. You cannot secure a nation with WhatsApp broadcasters.
Nigerians are not asking for perfection. We are asking for hygiene. Declare your assets. Show your scorecard. Bring new mechanics, not new perfume.
Until parties stop treating campaigns as compensation lists, we will keep recycling messiahs who become suspects. God help Nigeria. Amen.🙏
