Gombe Gov hails late Gen. Shelpidi’s contributions

Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has described Late General Timothy Shelpidi as a great and fine gentleman who contributed very well to the nation and entire humanity.
The Governor was a special guest of honour at the launching of a book written in his memory titled ” The Man Gen. Timothy Mai Shelpidi” at the Nigerian Air force Conference Centre, Kado Abuja.
Yahaya who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, described the Late Timothy Shelpidi as a man with great leadership attributes, military titan and strategist who gave good account of himself as a military secretary, member then Armed Forces Ruling Council, ECOMOG Commander and Nigerian Ambassador to Russia.
He said, “The late Shelpidi was a true leader who had great confidence in himself to stand alone, and also the courage to make top decision as well as compassionate heart to listen to others.
“The history of Gombe state cannot be complete without mentioning the invaluable contributions of the late General considering the vital role he played in the creation, growth and development of the state.”

While extolling the virtues of the patriotic General, the governor urged the Federal Government to immortalize him for his good deeds, adding that he was a man of his words.
“The Federal Government should recognise these contributions of late General Shelpidi at both the International, and National levels and immortalize him. To keep alive the memories of those noble contributions,” he said.

Yahaya further seized the opportunity to challenge the people, especially the youths to emulate the sterling qualities of uncommon patriotism, diligence discipline and consistency that characterized the life and time of the late General.
