Videos: SCI’s official, Akpan weds lover in grand style
In a glamorous event to bid farewell to singlehood, Mr Effiong Akpan, the Save the Children International’s Community Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator, Gombe State Office and his bride Beatrice Akhaba on Saturday, September 11, 2021 had a wonderful outing during the blessing of their marriage which took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Young Adult and Youth Church in Tumfure, Gombe state.
The Speaker of the Gombe state House of Assembly, Hon Abubakar Luggerowo, his deputy Siddi Buba and a handful of other lawmakers; the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Naomi J. J Awak; top SCI’s official from Abuja and Gombe state Offices; the NUJ National Vice President Zone E, Alhassan Yahya amongst other dignitaries were present as special guests of honour at the reception held at Abmar Hall, Gombe Metropolis.
The chairman of the occasion, Mr Maina Laban Binus while giving his opening remarks, charged the couple to continue on the path of Godliness in everything they do.
Binus while quoting Proverbs 18:22 said “whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD and I know that the favour of the Lord will be your portion,’’ he said.
On her part, the chairlady of the occasion, Hon Naomi J.J Awak expressed her delight that the union had been tied under a Godly atmosphere while noting the lovely display of love and unity by the new couple in the way they danced and shared bond of oneness at the occasion.
In an interview, Mr Akpan said the occasion was a great day and “I thank God for this day because it is the day that the Lord has made and the joy of every man is to have a day like this in his life. So I bless God for what He has done so far.’’
Akpan advised those who are still single to have absolute trust and believe in God, adding that they should not hasten issues of marriage but prayerfully wait on God for their appointed time.
On her part, the excited Mrs Beatrice Akpan said she had been waiting on God for a day like this and “God has done it finally and we are grateful.
Mrs Akpan said she trust God for His blessings and favours in the marriage while expressing her unreserved appreciations to all those who graced the occasion from far and near and prayed God to take them safely to their respective destinations.
There were several displays of dance and expression of love between the couple and other guests who came to celebrate with the Akpan’s on the dance floor and one of the catchy moments during the dance was the sight of the bride’s mother who broke down in tears in appreciation of the goodness of God towards her daughter.

The highlight of the event was the cutting of the wedding cake by the couple as well as the couple feeding each other.
