AA, NNPP conduct primaries in Gombe
Renowned football investor Khamisu Mailantarki has emerged gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP, for 2023 general election in Gombe State.
Mailantarki was announced on Monday, at the party’s primary election which held amid fanfare by followers.
The football scout who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress, was a close ally of the President, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari retd. as they worked closely in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change CPC, before the merger that produced the APC.
He would be slugging it out with incumbent Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress, alongside Muhammad Barde of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mailantarki while addressing supporters promised to lead accountable and transparent Government, adding that he would ensure Gombe residents enjoyed dividends of democracy.
He called on his supporters to unite as they get their Permanent Voters Card, stressing that it was the weapon of causing the much needed change in the state and the country.
Mailantarki said, “We wish to start all over again, believing that God gives power to whom he wishes and we strongly affirm that we intend to be just and loyal to our people.”
Meanwhile, the Action Alliance (AA) has conducted its primary election in the state which produced Dr. Nuhu Adeh as the gubernatorial candidate of the party, alongside 24 members of the State House of Assembly.
