AGGRIEVED WORKERS STORM GOMBE GOVT HOUSE OVER UNPAID WAGES
Staff of the Gombe State Environmental Protection Agency (GOSEPA), on Monday stormed the Gombe State Government House protesting three months unpaid wages.
Our correspondent reports that the protesters were seen walking from the Terminus Roundabout to the Government House with placards and green leaves signaling quest for justice.
Recall that in April 2022, a similar protest occured where the cleaners claimed that they were being owed aside rumour that they would be replaced under a new management, a position debunked adding that they were prior to the latest arrangement short-changed by their previous management.
Some of the workers who spoke to Periscope Nigeria who pleaded anonymity, claimed Governor Muhammadu Yahaya in his recent media chat claimed to have released all pending payments.
“For over three months we have been working without our pay, we have wives, children and bills to pay. It is not true that we have been paid as claimed by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya,” the protesters disclosed.
On his part, The General Manager GOSEPA Muhammad Kumo who refused to issue an official statement, arrived almost immediately and tried to quell the protest.
He promised to look into the issue while pleading with the protesters to disperse.
