PVC: Gombe declares Friday work-free day
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya has declared Friday as work-free day to enable residents, including civil servants obtain complete processes of obtaining Permanent Voters Card.

Disclosing the approval of the governor, Head of Service Bappayo Yahaya, in a statement signed by Yakubu Mamma, explained that the work-free day would ensure the smooth participation of workers ahead of 2023 elections.
Our correspondent reports that holiday as declared by some state governments has become a strategy deployed to ensure more residents are registered before the end of Independent National Electoral Commission deadline.
Yahaya’s statement partly read, “His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe) the Executive Governor of Gombe State has approved Friday, 29th July, 2022 as Work-Free Day to enable civil servants and the entire citizens of Gombe State get registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”
While urging for the day to be utilised effectively, the Head of Service tasked political office holders to mobilise their supporters to ensure they are registered.
“Accordingly, all Public Office Holders and the entire civil servants are advised to use this rear opportunity and mobilise their subjects to ensure they are registered before the expiration of the continuous voter registration exercise at the end of this month,” the statement added.
