The Association of Nigerian Authors has extended its warmest congratulations to the esteemed writers whose works have been longlisted for the prestigious NLNG Prize in 2023.

This recognition the association said is a testament to their exceptional talent and dedication to the craft of writing.

ANA President, Mr. Camillus Ukah, conveyed his heartfelt felicitations through a message released by the General Secretary, Maik Ortserga, at the Femi Osofisan Secretariat, located at the renowned Mamman Vatsa Writers Village in Mpape – Abuja.

Ukah expressed his admiration for the writers on the longlist, recognising their exceptional skills in weaving captivating narratives and presenting thought-provoking ideas.

He emphasised that every writer aspires to be acknowledged with such prestigious laurels, and the NLNG Prize longlist is a testament to their capability and potential in the literary landscape.

“ANA stands in solidarity with these talented individuals and sends its prayers as they await the final verdict of the distinguished judges, which will be revealed later in the year.

“Even for those whose names may not be on this year’s longlist, ANA wholeheartedly congratulates them for their unrelenting efforts and commitment to their craft.

“Writing is a journey of continuous growth and improvement, and the Association encourages them not to be disheartened but to see this as an opportunity to persevere and explore new creative avenues,” the statement partly read.

The NLNG Prize has always been a beacon of literary excellence in Nigeria, celebrating outstanding contributions to literature and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the nation.

“ANA commends the NLNG for its continued support and commitment to fostering a vibrant literary community in Nigeria.

“As an organisation devoted to nurturing and promoting literary talent across Nigeria, ANA applauds the NLNG’s efforts in recognizing and uplifting the voices of Nigerian writers. The longlist serves as a reminder of the diverse narratives that make up the Nigerian literary landscape and reinforces the importance of literature in shaping the society.

“ANA encourages all writers to continue honing their craft and sharing their unique perspectives with the world.

“The power of storytelling is immeasurable, and every voice contributes to the tapestry of Nigeria’s literary heritage.

“In conclusion, the Association of Nigerian Authors extends its sincerest congratulations once again to all the writers whose works have been longlisted for the NLNG Prize 2023. May your creative journey be filled with inspiration, success, and fulfillment, and may your literary contributions continue to enrich the literary world and touch the lives of readers far and wide,” Ukah was quoted to have said.
