The National Secretariat of the Association of Nigerian Authors has issued a formal statement to unequivocally disclaim any association with the so-called “Committee for Accountability on ANA Land.”

Furthermore, ANA’s leadership confirms no prior knowledge of the formation of this committee and asserts that it is not a recognised entity within the organisation.

The official position on committees and their functions is that ANA establishes such bodies through its legitimate leadership structure, and their establishment is always communicated to members.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Association, Maik Ortserga, members and stakeholders are advised to exercise caution and discernment in light of recent developments involving unauthorised individuals or groups attempting to claim association with ANA.

As a reputable and orderly organisation, ANA strives to maintain transparency and accountability in all its affairs, and any group operating under the guise of ANA without authorization is not reflective of the association’s values or principles.

ANA vehemently denounces any involvement in activities that promote disorder or incite conflicts. The association has, over time, made substantial progress in fulfilling its vision and mission, and it urges its members to refrain from engaging in any actions that could hinder its growth or tarnish its reputation.

ANA’s leadership firmly advises members to shun participation in any retrogressive ventures and to remain dedicated to promoting the literary arts in Nigeria.

“Regarding the matter of the Mamman Vatsa Writers Village, ANA leadership affirms that it has publicly communicated its position, and the matter is considered concluded. Any individual or group attempting to perpetuate unnecessary distractions or conflicts around this issue is urged to reconsider their actions and the potential consequences that may arise.

“ANA remains committed to fostering unity, cooperation, and a positive literary environment among its members and the wider community of Nigerian authors. The association assures its members that good times lie ahead and encourages all right-thinking individuals to continue supporting ANA’s noble objectives.

“In conclusion, ANA stands firm in upholding its core values and principles, and it reiterates that any group purporting to represent ANA without proper authorization is not recognised by the organization. We call on all stakeholders to be vigilant and discerning to protect the integrity of ANA and its initiatives,” Ortserga said.
