The National Directorate of Employment Gombe State has announced the second phase of Renewed Hope Employment initiative where no fewer than 487 youths are expected to benefit in hands-on skills.
Announcing this at the Federal Secretariat, Director-General of NDE Silas Agbara, who was represented by the state coordinator Mawa Lamu, stated that the four core areas of the directorate will be covered in the three months training.

“Nationwide the total number of beneficiaries will be 21,782 then for Gombe State is 487 and its shared among the four core programmes of NDE.
“I want to advice youths of Gombe State to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the NDE to learn skills they should go online to register they shouldn’t be discouraged but be focused. Skill is skill whether you are a graduate, worker, you can use it to earn a living,” Agbara said.
The Director-General added, “The vocational skills department, will register participants under digital, community-based training, persons with disability, quick-fix. For Small-Scale Entreprise participants will be trained under start your own business, retired people, basic business, micro enhancement empowerment scheme.
“For Rural Employment Promotion; the youths, unemployed women are going to be trained on sustainable agricultural development training scheme, community-based agricultural training, fish production, livestock, and organic production.

“For SPW there is focus on those into construction, drainages, culvet, we have environmental beautification scheme for training participants in hard and soft landscaping, we have graduate coaching scheme designed ensure candidates who failed their WAEC/JAMB will be coached to meet up requirements to get into university. Instructors will be paid and there will be centres across senatorial districts there will be solar training and also graduate attachment program.”
Speaking further the DG noted that selection would be based on residence and not state of origin, “because it’s in that state you are going to learn the skill. We are about to launch the second phase of Renewed Hope Employment initiative. Registration will start on the 28th of July and last for two weeks, it will be 100 percent online registration. The age limit is going to be 18 to 40 years unlike the previous one that was 18 to 35 years old. Transport will be paid to participants 10,000 per month for three months,” Agbara added.
