The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, has successfully contained a fire outbreak at a residential building in Kumbiya-Kumbiya, Layin Dogon Dibino area of Gombe.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, March 27, 2026, involved a two-bedroom apartment belonging to Architect Aminu Muazu.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the command, ASF M.B. Muazu, the distress call was received at about 1:41 p.m., prompting an immediate response from firefighters stationed at the ATM Fire Station.

“The distress call was received at 13:41hrs, and firefighters were promptly mobilised, leading to a swift and effective containment of the incident,” he said.

Muazu disclosed that properties worth about ₦3 million were affected by the fire, while items valued at approximately ₦7 million were salvaged during the operation.

“Preliminary assessment indicates that property worth approximately ₦3,000,000 was affected, while properties valued at about ₦7,000,000 were successfully saved. No casualties were recorded,” he added.

He explained that the firefighting operation was led by ASF I Mohammad Gambo, with operational support from ASF II Mu’azu Tagwai, who operated the fire truck.

Personnel from the Gombe State Fire Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also provided support at the scene.

“A post-incident inspection was conducted to ensure complete extinguishment and eliminate any risk of re-ignition before the crew safely returned to base,” Muazu stated.

The Fire Service, however, urged residents to remain vigilant and adhere to fire safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
“We advise members of the public to remain vigilant and adopt necessary fire safety measures, particularly in residential buildings, to prevent such incidents,” he said.
