The former Registrar, of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria COREN, Dr. Engr. Felix Atume has commended the Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia over the move to reconstruct the 40 Km dilapidated Makurdi -Naka road.
Elder Atume, a former Commissioner for Works in Benue, told journalists in Jalingo that the development was a step toward ending the persistence incidences of bandit attacks and killings on the federal road.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that, the Gwer-West council chairman, Hon Victor Ormin had earlier on the directive of governor Alia, lead a team of engineers and surveyors from China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC), led by Engr. Ronaldo Lee, on a comprehensive assessment of the dilapidated Makurdi–Naka Road ahead of it’s reconstruction work.
Meanwhile, Dr. Atume while reacting to the development, he praised governor Alia for the step taken to liberate the Tyoshin community from the age-long agony of movement and kidnapping.
Engr. Atume described the governor’s decision as humanitarian driven, as the gesture was unquantify, considering the untold plight the Tyoshin community have went through due to the poor condition of the road.
“The 40km Makurdi -Naka road is a federal road that connects Benue and the eastern parts of Nigeria. It has been in bad condition for over 20 years without serious attention.
“These particular road due to it poor nature, has become a bandit point of daily attack, killings and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians especially people within the immediate community.
“Governor Hyacinth Alia’s move to reconstruct the road is commendable. I am happy, the Tyoshin community is happy with the governor over these development,” Elder Atume commended.
The former works commissioner while affirming the ability of CHEC, to deliver the desired quality, he urged the Gwer-West citizens to cooperates with governor Alia, the contractor of the project to ensure it timely completion.
