Fire guts Forte fuel station by Azubuike Chima Nathaniel
Lagos Airport road was thrown into anxiety , despair and confusion at about 1.45pm as a 33,000 capacity fuel tanker was discharging it content.
One of the eye witnesses on ground Mr Shola Ateniola, a car hire operator told our reporter that the inferno was from the tanker as it had a battery issue.
Another respondent Mr Shina Akinkunmi, a car hire said he just discovered thick smoke and intense heat from the ground. According to Osas orowe, who was on ground to buy fuel i wanted to buy fuel,but I told to go else where to buy because they not dispensing yet,as they were about getting the supply , I had no option other than to get it elsewhere. Moments later I was called that the station was up in flames.
The director of Lagos state fire service Mr Rasaki Musibau told reporters it was their duty, we got a call by 2:10 pm and immediately we mobilised near by stations Bolade, Isolo, No life was lost, cause of incident unknown. The head of operations Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria fire service Mr Makanjuola Temitope, in a separate interview explains we were the first respondents to the situation, we reduced the spread from extending to it surroundings, which are highly flammable, just behind is conoil depot .
Efforts made to reach fuel attendants proofed abortive as they denied knowledge of the crisis. Eye witnesses praised the joint efforts of fire services, Lagos state, FAAN, LASEMA,Air force, Police in putting out of the fire at 3:50pm
