Progress FM Gombe suffers attack.

A popular radio station in Gombe state Progress FM known for it popular broadcasting suffered an attack when unidentified party supporters pelted stones into the premises of the station thereby breaking a car wind shield, and flogging a staff.
The Gombe state police commissioner Bello Makwashi confirmed the attack, through the PRO Mary Malum she said
“We have brought the situation under control. The station suffered from the attack because it is sited along the expressway where supporters of PDP and APC clashed, we are investigating the actual cause of the attack” she maintained.
When punch newspaper, visited the station, patches were seen on the wall, in a chat with the managing director Progress FM 97.3 Dr. Ibrahim Biu, he said
“The attackers were among the Governor’s convoy, I’m not a politician, i air whatever is approved by NBC. our doors are opened to all political parties, when i noticed the attack, I quickly called on the commissioner of police and director of Department of States Security to come to our rescue” he said.
In a separate reaction the All progressives Congress Gombe state through a press conference signed by Alh. Abdulahi Idris, the Coordinator APC media and publicity called on the security agencies not to treat such nefarious act with kid’s glove. He blamed the Governor and the candidate of the PDP for the attack he said ” Dr Ibrahim Dankwambo, and PDP Candidate Sen. Usman Bayero Nafada gave nod to the destruction of property belonging to APC and a private radio station” he reiterated.
Basil john, a resident of Gombe called on the political actors to shield their sword he said ” we have been enjoying a peaceful state devoid of violence, I hope we will not be made to stay indoors due to fear
s of insecurity ” he said.
Alh. Abubakar zakaray called for peace he said “Intimidation is absolutely wrong for our polity, adequate arrangement must be made to protect us the electorate” he said.
In a similar vein the Peoples Democratic Party, through a press release signed by Dahiru Hassan Kera, Chairman Media and Publicity it reads “The PDP will never allow itself to be cowed or intimidated to submit to this violent way of politicking just for the sake of acquiring political power. We are fully on ground and will follow all legal and Democratic processes to retain power in Gombe State because know that the people of Gombe State are fully with us” the statement added. He however dismissed any such attack on progress FM as been the handiwork of PDP.
For sometime now the All progressives congress and the Peoples Democratic party have been at logger heads on the spate of destruction of campaign boards and pelting of stones.
