Gombe Court Nails Driver’s License Dealer
Bolari Area court sitting in Gombe has sentenced Mr Steve Ishaya,
to one year imprisonment with an option of Fifty thousand Naira fine for license racketeering.
The Federal Road Safety Corps Gombe sector command had handed him over to Directorate of State Security Services, and Nigeria Police force for investigation accordingly before Ishaya, was charged on three count charges bordering on Impersonation, Fraud and Cheating.
Ishaya, on interogation accepted defrauding Mr Elisha Mazadu and Alh.Muhammed Tukur of the sums of sixteen thousand(16,000) and ten thousand (10,000) respectively. He also accepted having arranged to meet some staff of some schools and MDA’s to swindle them. The suspect pleaded guilty to the three count charges against him as he pleaded the court to temper justice with mercy.
The sector commander Dr. Godwin Omiko, in a press statement Omiko, personally signed which was made available to Justthinkingaloud90.blogspot.com he warned drivers to desist from patronising touts it partly states “We want to use this opportunity to urge all applicants for driver’s license to follow the proper channel of acquiring their driver’s license. “Driver’s license can’t be obtained by proxy. It involves filling out your MLA forms, paying the prescribed fee of N6,350:00 or N10,450 for a 3 year tenor license respectively, drivers testing by VIO and physical/Eye screening and Capture by FRSC. “Applicants must therefore exercise a lot of caution and avoid patronizing touts” he stated.
