Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, governor of Gombe state has taken another bold step by constituting a Taskforce with a mandate to find ways of improving the power supply in all parts of the state. This was contained in a statement signed by the SSA to the governor, Media and Publicity, Mr Ismaila Uba Misilli, it states “In view of the successes recorded by the Inuwa Yahaya administration, in the area of water supply and other sectors, the Gombe state Governor,has approved the appointment of a nine- man Taskforce which has Engineer Abdullahi Gwarzo as Chairman with following as members Felix Gambo Mukollo, Kayinu Saraki Ambore, Saidu Maigari, Engineer Modi Babuje Gwandum, Engr. Bello Babayo Bello, Adamu Usman Dukku, Engineer Ahmed Garba Pindiga and Barr. Mohammed Ismail Hinna as Secretary/Legal Adviser
The committee is to among others, ascertain the current level and capacity of power transmission, determine the adequacy or otherwise of electric feeder pillars, sub-stations and electric transformers at strategic locations in the state. Other terms of reference of the Taskforce include; Assessing the performance of all transformers with reference to imposed load and current power ratings; Ascertaining causes of frequent transformer failures and proffering solutions for onward transmission to relevant bodies.
The committee is also to determine the root causes of inadequate electricity supply to rural areas and suggest ways of ameliorating/remedying the situation; recommend ways of ensuring proper State Government oversight in billing, quotation and maintenance of low tension transmission lines as well as come up with ways to strengthen trilateral relations between the Gombe State Government and Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc. and Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN. It may make such other or further recommendations as it deems fit under the circumstances.
Similarly, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has also approved the constitution of a committee on the Review and Restructuring of the State Civil Service.
The committee is to be chaired by a former Federal Permanent Secretary and ex- Gombe State Head of Civil Service, Dr. Ibrahim Jalo Daudu other Members are includes Alh. Adamu Tabra ,Alh. Mohammed Hashim , Mr. Nuhu Sada Laumara , Dr. Garba Mohammed Bajoga, Alh. Umaru Gurama ,Dr. (Mrs) Hajara Salim Dr. (Mrs) Bertha Danja ,Mr. Yason Yonge, Alh. Adamu Musa Deba and Alh. Saidu Hamma Degri is to serve as Secretary
The committee is mandated to review the structure and functions of the existing Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs with a view to harmonizing them to avoid overlap of functions and responsibilities. The committee has 30 days to submit it recommendations.
