Nwaorisara Kanu, Gombe
……..Don’t use Public Funds for Self.
Gombe state governor Alh. Inuwa Yahaya has urged the newly sworn in Commissioners to be selfless.
He stated this on Saturday at Pantami Stadium, Gombe state venue of the swearing in of Commissioners, Special Advisers and Permanent Secretaries.
He said his administration is a people driven government and as such funds must be utilized for the good of the people and not for personal gains no matter how highly placed the person is.
Governor Yahaya noted that the ball is now in the court of the commissioners, Special Advisers and newly appointed permanent Secretaries and must be well played.
“The power, authorities and funds belonging to the Government must be used for the benefits of our people, and not for the benefit of any single individual or group no matter how highly placed.
“The biggest task before us is for us to work together as a team in order to pursue our common objectives of improving the social, economic and political conditions of our people. We are one administration, working towards a single goal. I therefore urge all of you to treat each other as partners rather than rivals, comrades rather than competitors. It is the spirit of cooperation, collective ownership and shared responsibility that brings success in Government.
“The mistakes of the past should provide important lessons for us to learn from. We should avoid repeating similar mistakes. In discharging your responsibilities, you will face enormous challenges, but behind those challenges lie tremendous opportunities to explore. It is our hope that you will deploy your wealth of experience and administrative prowess to provide innovative and result-oriented solutions to those challenges. It is hoped that at the end of the day, we shall leave the state better than we found it” he said.
