The Orientation course has been described as a platform where corps members are properly inducted into the four cardinal programmes of the National Youth Service Corps; the Orientation course, primary assignment, Community Development Service and Winding up and Passing out.
According to State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mr David Markson, prospective corps members must do away with social media and unnecessary interview with the media as they were urged to focus on the four cardinal programmes.
He stated this on friday at the briefing of the 2019 Batch C stream II Orientation course.
Mr Markson also spoke on allowances, discipline, camp administration, channel of communication, relocation, use of suggestion box, religious activities and use of NYSC publications among other things.
He also spoke extensively on some provisions of the NYSC Act and the penalties of any person or corps member who run foul of the provisions.
He also drew the attention of the prospective Corps members to the undertaking they signed not to disfigure or deface the NYSC uniform. Calling on them to pay attention to the banners displaying approved dress code that are placed at Strategic points for guidance.
The state Coordinator cautioned them against granting interview to the press or use of the social media handles to channel their grievances.
“Follow the proper channel of communication on camp to channel your grievances, Do not the use of social media handles” he added.
