Professor Idris Mohammed Gombe Chairman on Covid-19 Taskforce force on Monday said the amount of PCR procurement unimportant as the state takes delivery of Polymerase chain Reaction machine for the testing of covid-19.
Mohammed stated this at the daily briefing of activities on the novel Coronavirus in the state.
He said the machine will be received via a courier company on board to Bauchi state from Lagos.
According to him, “The good news is that DHL through which the machine was sent have just called to say that they will be delivering the machine to Bauchi tomorrow on (Tuesday) at 3pm. All things been equal our PCR machine will arrive Gombe tomorrow.
“The consumables including the primer for covid-19 have already arrived 10 days ago and are in storage at the minus 70 degree fridge at the federal teaching hospital. We have prior information that the NCDC team plans to be in Gombe on Wednesday to install and commission it so that we can start testing in Gombe State.”
While responding to a question on cost of PCR machine, Mohammed said, “I don’t see the relevance quite honestly, you should have asked us the amount for procuring drugs for those on isolation.”
