Hon. Meshack Audu, Commissioner for Higher Education Gombe state, has said only exiting students of College of Health Sciences and Technology is opened for examination adding that is because the school examination has a regional regulatory body.
He said the college got approval from ministry of health and the governor before graduating students were allowed to come back.
According to Audu, “We are monitoring the pandemic as it aspects Gombe State, government will not Like to take a risk without assessing the risk situation of reopening these schools.
“As at today College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kaltungo which is a tertiary institution has been reopened for exit students because their examination is West Africa, the school does not fix it examination there is a regulatory board. As soon as they wrote I got approval from the governor, Approval was also given by federal ministry of health which was transmitted to the governor, for the school to be opened for exiting students they will start their examination on the 14th of September.”
He added that the state may not wait federal government 100 percent before reopening, saying that, “we are assessing the situation once the government and governor, are satisfied that the situation is such that we can reopen all tertiary schools will be reopened but we have to put into consideration the condition now as it affects covid-19, do we have community transmission? so the taskforce has submitted it report to the governor, we are using the report to look at the situation on the ground. The heads of the various institutions are also sending in report because we will not like to lose one student, of what use is the certificate without life.”
