Civil Society Network on Protection of Migrants and Development (CSOnetMADE) on Monday, expressed concern about the effects of coronavirus on Migrants.
According to the National Coordinator, CSOnetMADE, Fr. Emeka Xris Obiezu, Covid-19 Pandemic across the globe has continued to pose challenges for all especially migrants working under inhuman conditions.
Obiezu disclosed this at a stakeholders workshop held in Abuja.
He added that the Civil Society Network on Migration and Development, Nigeria is engaging stakeholders working on Migration to create a platform for protection of Migrants.
“it’s been observed that Covid-19 has exposed vulnerable Migrants and their protection to discrimination, Xenophobic attacks, exclusion, stigmatizing, exploitation and poor Healthcare system.
“The project aims to integrate the affairs of Migrants into the various activities of CSOs and Government in relation to mitigating the impact of the virus on vulnerable Migrants,” he stated.
While noting that the project will employ the services of one radio station across the geo- Political zones of Nigeria.
He said, “The project is also designed to ensure the host Communities of Migrants do not expose migrants to conditions that Will lead to violation of their rights.”
