The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State on Sunday, expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the December 19, Council poll in the state, adding that it has raised 7 grey areas for Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission to resolve.
Confirming the wishes of the opposition party in the state, the chairman Gen. A. K Kwaskebe, said his party is confident of clearing council seats, adding that the party has made amends to previous challenges that led to it woes in 2019 election.
“As a party our focus is winning elections and we are always prepared to respond to political activities. Our party is a united party, we are prepared to participate in the LGA elections in Gombe, we have confidence.
“There is no doubt we lost some grounds from the 2019 elections but we are fast recovering the grounds. My party is confident about winning major seats and I know we will perform credibly well,” he said.
Kwaskebe said the party is confidence about the possibility of the state Independent Electoral body to conduct credible poll noting that everyone has a responsibility towards fair poll in the state.
He stated, “It is dependent on the quality of the people given the responsibility in the Electoral Commission, so far from the meetings we have observed some aspects that we have raised seven fundamental issues. We are waiting for the body to make necessary changes.
While appraising the performance of the current administration in the state, Kwaskebe added, “Gombe state is PDP state, we have ruled this state for 16 years, PDP has laid solid foundation for the development of Gombe state.”
