Mr Imran Amin, an official of Triacta construction company has lauded the effort of Gombe state government in instituting the state technical committee saying that it will help give value for money.
According to him, local content policy is region specific, some areas are deficient in technical know how, adding that where deficiency abound is in the managerial role where there is no enough managerial content.
“When it comes to civil, mechanical, electrical engineers we have alot of technical know how. By inauguration of the State Technical Committee at the grass root level will be adequately monitored and it will ensure that adequate standards are taken with the specification,” he said.
Amin disclosed these on Tuesday, at the inauguration of the gombe state technical committee (GSTC) and the state expatriate monitoring committee (GSEMC) of the engineering regulations monitoring held at government house Gombe, by Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN.
He stressed that substandard construction work leads to failures and waste of resources .
He said, “Before the expected life of a project and the nation has to spend more money or the individual has to spend more funds repairing what has been done before. Right from the outset monitoring is done properly and specifications are followed and a befitting structure is constructed which will last the designed life span thereby meeting the Nation spend less on infrastructure.”
