#ENDSARS: No Memoranda yet – Gombe Panel Scribe

Gombe Panel of Inquiry into human right violations, to probe the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and other police force units, security agencies says it is yet to receive memoranda from members of the public.
Recall the commission was inaugurated more than a week ago by Gombe state governor, Inuwa Yahaya, base on provisions of section 2 of commission of inquiry law CAP 33, laws of Bauchi state 1991.
Confirming this latest development, secretary of the panel and acting director of public prosecutions of the state, Barr. Mohammed Kumo, said the commission is expectant of complaints from victims of police and other security agencies brutality.
According to him, “We are yet to receive memoranda from members of the public, but we are still waiting for memo. As you are aware the commission has expanded it window of communication; we can also receive entries through emails.
“Above all over we have two desk officers for those who wants to file their complaints manually.”
Kumo added that it experienced venue challenge but has been resolved with the provision of a space by the Acting chief judge of the state.
“After our swearing in we had an inaugural meeting, we had to familiarize ourselves and another meeting at ministry of justice conference hall. We are working at getting our permanent venue, the initial one is currently in use by students. We have discussed with the acting chief Judge who has given us a court room,” he said.
