National Union of Kaltungo & Shongom Students (NUKALGOSS), on Monday presented multiple awards to the Secretary to the State Government of Gombe state.

According to the president of NUKALGOSS, Com. Amos Robert, over 600 students have benefited from the generosity of Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, adding that with the resources  received  a lot has been done to stabilise the union.

Robert stated this when he led members of  National Union of Kaltungo & Shongom Students  (NUKALGOSS), to pay a courtesy call and to present distinguished personality, and pillar of support Awards, with medals to the SSG.

“Around February we organised a tutorial and over 600 people participated through his support. In this regard; prof Njodi supported us, and has given us both financial and moral assistance. The fund received has kept this association going. it was the money we put into use  in which 600 people benefited, many have enjoyed Jamb scholarships,” he said.

Robert added that many of the beneficiaries performed excellently, stressing that it is as a result of the supports received.

“Many of them did  well after the Jamb tutorial, they passed their Jamb examination and it really an honour to have enjoyed your support. The secretary to the state government is a man of his own word. Right from when he promised to support us he has been supporting us accordingly,” he stated.

On his part, Usman Baba, Director cabinet office while appreciating members of National Union of Kaltungo & Shongom Students (NUKALGOSS), for honouring the SSG, he said he has been following the track record of prof. Njodi, adding that he has an outstanding performance way before he joined politics.

“I have heard about the SSG, his good works as vice chancellor of University of Maiduguri, and I have never met him prior to his appointment as Secretary to the State Government.

“His intervention is not only in Gombe South, Kaltungo, Shongom; his intervention was everywhere across the country. The catchment area of Unimaid is the 36 states of the country.

“This award is a testimony of your goodness as a leader,” he said.

Meanwhile,  the Secretary to the Gombe State Government Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, while receiving the awards from the union urged them to do things differently in their time, stressing that they are emerging leaders.

Njodi also dedicated the awards to entire staff of the SSG’s office and  government house, adding that he has been spurred to more.

According to him, ” I want to thank you most sincerely for the believe you have in me and for standing by me all the way. You have believed in me because the people in Maiduguri believed in whatever I was doing.

“I re-engineer students towards productive ventures.”

While encouraging  members of the union with his success tips, Njodi tasked them to live above their present circumstances, calling them to support one another.

He said, “You will all come up to our position, whoever comes to you for help; you should help out, where you can’t, God knows it is because you don’t have.

“Once you give that same hand will not come back empty until God gives  you another that is my principle. I’m happier when I share.

“Have the spirit of sharing then you will see the difference, don’t always believe you don’t have.”
