Gombe APC predicts victory in LG poll

Gombe state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described other political parties involved in the December 19 Local Government election as bystanders.
According to the chairman of the council on campaign and election planning, Abubakar Muazu , who spoke spoke alongside the committee’s secretary Dasuki Jalo, some of the parties are waiting for the election day to hang the boot.
Muazu stated this on Saturday, in an interview with newsmen, shortly after the committee’s meeting.
He said, “We are going to win the 114 ward councillor seats and 11 Local government areas in the state.
“This is because we are working hard, the other parties are not doing anything. They just fold their hands waiting for that day to come to pull out. As a politician; once I see that there is no hope, I will just create something and accuse the winning side of misconduct. What are the oppositions doing in Gombe state? They are not on media, or on physical campaign unlike APC we are in government but we are fully prepared, we going from place to place seeking for votes.
“The opposition will give one reason or the other, for their withdrawal because they can’t just withdraw just like that. I’m very confident of the election because APC will win the local governments because of what we have been doing.”
While calling on members of his party to embrace peace, Muazu added that, “Our supporters should go and vote, no intimidation, no harassment and they should not go to the polling units with anything that can harm any person. We expect the day to be violent free.
“Fortunately, we don’t have any break of law and order in Gombe. our people (supporters) are law abiding citizens, so I don’t think they will cause any problem during the election, I think the other parties that will participate, I don’t think they will also cause any trouble during or after the election.”
Muazu further restated the party’s confidence in Gombe Independent Electoral Commission to provide a plain field for all parties.
“Free and fair election is dependent on how you look at it. If you beat someone, he will say he has been manipulated out. Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GSIEC) has been doing it work by sensitising residents, with the promise that it will be free and fair. The electoral body am sure is fully prepared. For sometimes now they have been meeting with all political parties and relevant stakeholders,” he added.
