Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi on Friday, expressed optimism that in spite of the challenges faced by Nigerians in the year 2020, the year 2021 will be better and more prosperous to the people of Gombe State, the nation at large.
Njodi stated this in his new year’s message to the people of the State. The Academician cum Politician enjoined the people of Gombe State not to despair but to approach the new year with great hope and optimism.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government used the new year message to commend Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for suspending its nine months old strike action calling on the Federal Government and Heads of Tertiary Institutions to do the needful by working out modalities that will lead to the safe resumption of Academic activities especially in the face of the covid-19 Pandemic.
“I salute parents for their tolerance, show of love, care and understanding to our dear youths particularly during this trying moment. Your efforts and investment on our fellow youths would never be in vain,” he said.
He described the year 2020 as full of challenges pointed out that under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe State has continually remained on the path of progressive development in virtually all aspects of human endeavours this includes; infrastructural development, Health Care Delivery, Women and Youths Empowerment, maintenance of peace and security as well as the total transformation of the Education sector.
He said, “With Governor Inuwa Yahaya on the saddle therefore, this administration will remain guided towards human capital development and infrastructural expansion.
While commending the citizens of Gombe state, Njodi noted that their unwavering support is highly appreciated together with their collective cooperation under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, adding that, “I implore you to support government policies and programs which are all aimed at the development of our dear state.”
He called on the two major religions, to continue to pray for the peace, economic prosperity of the country and above all show love and respect to one another describing the New year Church Services and and Jumat prayers as God’s own way of uniting both Christians and Muslims on a Friday.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government further expressed his appreciation to Commissioners, Special Advisers and Assistants, Director Generals, top Government Functionaries and all staff of Gombe State for their sacrifice, commitment and dedication to duty in the year 2020.
He further congratulated the citizens of Gombe State and by extension Nigerians for making it to the year 2021, calling on Nigerians to continue to pray, work and hope for a better and prosperous new year.
