Lawmaker empowers over 50 physically challenged out of school children in Gombe with walking aids

No fewer than 50 physically challenged primary and secondary school students especially out of school children in Dukku/Nafada Local Government Areas have been empowered to access education without the usual stress of crawling to classrooms.

Speaking at a formal presentation of Wheelchairs and walking aids, Former Minister of State for Education, Aisha Dukku, said the benevolence was borne out her love for education and love for the people.
The former Minister who is a House of Representatives member representing Nafada/Dukku Federal Constituency made this disclosure during the presentation of other items such as six vehicles, 100 motorcycles, 30 Deep Freezers, 31 power generators, 200 sewing machines, 21 Grinding machines.
Others are; 100 pots, 100 hospital bedsheets, 50 wheel chairs, 21 pumping machines, 30 wheelchairs, 200 big mats, 150 small mats, 24 Camp Gas, 24 frying pans with 24 cartons of noodles amounting to 110 million naira.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the formal presentation of the items to the beneficiaries she said, “The motivation is the support I get from the people of Dukku/Nafada. It is overwhelming and I can’t quantify it. I can’t pay them back.
“This will in no small way improve their lot. I have love for the physically challenged that is why I have made provision for them. These wheelchairs some of them are for young girls who can’t go to school because they Re handicapped as they have no means of accessing the school location as you know, I’m for education. I’m from an educational family, I have background in Education. I have been a former Minister of education, so education is my life and in everything I do there must be an educational component of it.”
Also, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, lauded the efforts of the Federal Lawmaker while urging others to emulate her giant strides.
Yahaya who was represented by the Chief of Staff Government House Inuwa Kari, added that “this will go a long way to touching the lives of the people.”
