Lunguda/ Waja Clash: Two additional corpses found

Nyuwar Community Development Association on Monday, has confirmed two additional corpses in the renewed communal clash involving Waja/Lunguda of Gombe State.
According to the National Chairman of the Association, Galiyos Zullum, the two additional corpses were causalities of the Sunday renewed destruction of property belonging to people from Lunguda extraction,adding that the security spent over 13 hours without responding to the emergency in the earlier attack.
Recall that about 19 lives had been slaughtered with the two mutilated bodies buried today the number rises to 21, with hundreds of buildings burnt.
Zullum Said, “Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th April was the saddest day in the history of Nyuwar; when suddenly the community was attacked by suspected Waja militants in the night without any notice. This morning two were buried from yesterday attack.
“A threat letter dated 10th February, 2021 by Kungiyar Kwatan Yancin Wajawa A Nigeria, where they threatened to wipe the Lunguda race to leave women and children, they want to extend their control on Lunguda lands, so they just acted the letter. One may say that the reason for these attack may be envy because Nyuwar was developing faster. So they wanted to bring it down; it could be wickedness or perhaps they were sponsored from outside to achieve a motive.”
While lamenting the slow pace of response by security agencies, Zullum added, “The security agencies were alerted for protection but couldn’t respond to the distress calls on time this lasted for 13 hours but they didn’t show up.
“By 7am of 13th April 2021 they resumed burning again and Killing which lasted for 4 hours before the Army and police came but before they responded many houses had been burnt, property worth millions destroyed.”
