He said the youth group believes in dialogue and amicable settlement of disaffections, adding that for separationists to succeed there would be plans in place.
Oyeniyi said, “We as a pressure group we condemn anything that will not bring peace in Nigeria. We have had great leaders across all the regions, who worked for the unity of the country. We must go back to how they did it. So we advocate for peace in the country.

“However, before you agitate you must have plans on ground, those demanding for a country what are the resources they have in the country. We must work towards managing ourselves in looking for solutions in the country. You can go and look at our statement, we are not in support of Sunday Igboho dividing the southwest demanding Oodua Nation. We are not in support, let sit down and discuss issues that affect us in the country.
“Nigeria is one, you can not divide the country, no matter what happens both leaders and the people must come together to settle issues left and right. Youths across must work together in defending the peace and unity in the country.”
While lauding the contribution’s of SSG, in the promotion of peace, and unity. Oyeniyi said Prof. Njodi’s strides transcends beyond the North.
He added, “We believe in the unity of Nigeria, the SSG has been a father, mentor to youths in the country. He has a track record right from his years as vice chancellor in University of Maiduguri. There were alot of landmark achievements we saw, so the need to honour him as an Ambassador of peace of the entire youth.
“The award of Mayegun (Ambassador of Peace) is befitting of the personality of Professor Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi due to his numerous contributions.”
On his part, Njodi lauded the consistent efforts of Nigerian youths, in maintaining peace and unity in Nigeria, adding that he is impressed.
He said, “While the elders are showing bitterness you (Nigerian youths) have brought water to douse the tension. I’m happy, If I should die today, I will die with a smile on my face because the youth, you are doing what is needed. After 51 years of fighting a worthless, needless war, we should have forgotten, buried that hatchet. Sadly, some people want to bring back bad memory.”
