Barde faults Gombe Ease of Doing Business Award by FG
Chima Azubuike, Gombe
An Economist, Muhammad Barde, has faulted Federal Government on the award given to Gombe on the state with ease of doing business.
Recall that Gombe was awarded during the 4th Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the best among states that have provided attractive environments that promote business growth in Nigeria.
This was contained in a result of the State Ease of Doing Business Survey undertaken by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
Barde, who was Chairman Board of Directors of the Gombe Jewel Microfinance Bank Limited. He left SunTrust Bank as the Chief Executive Officer, made this disclosure on Monday, when he defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Barde noted that businesses domiciled in the state are suffering with harsh economic policies, he also lamented the issues of land.
He said, “Ease of doing business am sure you are a better judge whether Gombe State today is in a position to speak on ease of doing business.
“Business men their capitals have decipated completely, recently there is consistent withdrawal of lands that belongs to orphans that belongs to business owners in Gombe, families and so many other people.
“Do you call that ease of doing business, if I invest my capital, inheritance by purchasing lands and suddenly government policy comes and take it. You can’t call that ease of doing business.”
He added, “At the appropriate time we will tell indigenes of Gombe State, that self aggrandising and accumulation of wealth by one individual can not solve our problem and we are prepared to protect our common wealth.”
