Wawa-Zange Grazing Reserve: FG moves to end farmers, herders clash in Gombe

Gombe State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Musa Inuwa, says grazing reserve would help arrest perennial crises involving farmers and herders.
According to him, federal government has started work towards the completion of clinics and other vital projects for the full occupation of the 140,000 hectares of Wawa-Zange grazing reserve.
He made this disclosure on Friday, during the commencement of NPK 15:15 sales and distribution in the state to farmers, cooperative societies.
He said, “His Excellency, may wish to recall his untiring efforts towards the development of over 140,000 Ha Wawa zange grazing reserve with a view to addressing the incessant farmer herder crises not only in Gombe State but the country at large.
“It is with gratitude to God Almighty that I wish to inform His Excellency that Federal Government has commenced development of the grazing reserve works on Human community clinic, veterinary clinic. A micro pit dam, 10 Ha pasture/fodder bank and two access roads.”
He added that the ministry would ensure that works continued through sustained budgetary allocation in 2021.
“More projects are expected to be carried out at the Grazing Reserve in our 2021 appropriation,” Inuwa added.
On his part, Danjuma Abdulkadir, Managing Director of TAK-Agro chemicals Ltd, said the company had commenced a 24 hour production geared towards ensuring that the state becomes the hub of fertilizer in the region.
Abdulkadir added that efforts have been geared towards providing the needs of farmers.
