A group under the aegis of Northern Youths for Tambuwal (NYT), has lamented the situation of the country under the current administration, saying that it is ridden in ‘corruption, mismanagement, maladministration, favouritism’.
NYT is also rooting for the emergence of Sokoto State governor, as president, made this disclosure on Sunday, while addressing journalists in Gombe, stressing that the country is in need of ‘a strong, dynamic, viable and a virile leadership that will propel the country to compete with other developed nations’.
Speaking on behalf of the group, North East Coordinator, Ibrahim Inuwa said despite the overwhelming human and natural resources Nigeria suffers from huge infrastructural deficit.
“Further to that, the current system has inflicted so much injuries and hardship in the lives of people which resulted in inhumane practices and social vices in the society, and this is not unconnected with anti-masses policies of the administration. To say it all, everyone in this country knows the suffering and how people are battling for survival.
“However, all this happened as a result of corruption, mismanagement, maladministration, favoritism and lack of the country at heart to bring the desired system that the people aspired for. Nigeria has been blessed with enormous resources that will make her to compete with other developed nations-states in the world, but are not yet tapped and harnessed for the betterment of common people in the country. People are left in a state of dilemma without functional education, health system, agriculture and functional infrastructural facilities that will culminated in sound economic system,” Inuwa said.
While commenting on the choice of Tambuwal, the group urged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to deliver the party’s ticket to the former speaker, adding that the region’s population would be a factor if the party wants to win 2023.
Inuwa added, “We have more states with larger population than any other zone of the country and perhaps zoning is not part of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but a kind of gentleman’s agreement among the party members.
“What the people are looking for is a man that can deliver and if there is no such person in any political party will vote for who can deliver than to go for zoning arrangement. The present governor of sokoto state his excellency RT, honorable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has turned everything around in the state.
“Being a young, agile, and a committed servant to his people has since introduced policies that are people oriented which touched and changed the lives of people in the state. His excellency was able to provide functional education, health system, agriculture, infrastructural facilities and of course a sound youths empowerment scheme that overhaul the lives of many in the state.
“We are calling for the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) to without hesitation and as a matter of necessary to nominate RT. Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as their Party’s flag bearer come 2023 election, for he is young and has the capacity, wisdom, prowess, sagacity and of course the political wherewithal to unite and propel the country to a desired destination that Nigerians are clamoring for.”
Also speaking, Gombe State coordinator, Jamilu Inuwa, said the call for southern presidency, or rotation was born out of deprivation in the current dispensation, noting that the call may not be out of desire to serve.
He said, “It is not as if the southern region wants to rule Nigeria, their fear is marginalization, they feel they are been marginalized as most of the substantive positions were given to people from the Northern part of the country and not really to grab the leadership of the country.
“However, whosoever that comes from the northern part of Nigeria that will include them in the running of the country, they will forget the presidency, and follow him up, so that when they grab the power they will be involved and rule the country together.”
